The usability metric on web design

by naviajoker / domingo, 28 agosto 2016 / Published in Uncategorized

Usability is a key metric in web design that refers to how easy it is for users to interact with and navigate a website. Usability is important because it can have a significant impact on user satisfaction, engagement, and conversion rates.

There are several factors that contribute to usability in web design, including the overall layout and organization of the website, the usability of navigation and menus, the readability and legibility of text, the design of forms and input fields, and the responsiveness and accessibility of the site.

There are various methods used to measure usability in web design, including:

User testing: This involves observing users as they interact with a website and identifying areas of difficulty or confusion. User testing can be conducted through in-person testing, remote testing, or online testing.
Usability surveys and questionnaires: These are used to gather feedback from users about their experiences with a website. Surveys and questionnaires can be used to measure user satisfaction, ease of use, and other usability-related metrics.
Heatmaps and click tracking: These tools record where users click and scroll on a website and provide data on how users interact with the site. Heatmaps and click tracking can be used to identify areas of a website that are attracting a lot of attention or areas that are being ignored.
Based on the results of these testing and measuring techniques, a list of usability issues and recommendations to improve the website will be generated. Fixing the identified issues will help improve user engagement, satisfaction and conversion rate.

Web designers should always keep in mind that usability is a continuous process and it’s essential to keep testing and measuring the website even after it’s launched. The design trends, technology and user preferences change frequently and regular usability testing helps to keep up with the changes and stay ahead of the competition.

It’s important to note that usability is also related to accessibility, it means that the website should be accessible and usable for all, especially for people with disabilities. this can be achieved through following web accessibility guidelines and standards, such as the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) from the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
